Riley Cooper, Cary Williams Break Into Scuffle At Practice

WR Riley Cooper was involved in a skirmish with CB Cary Williams at Thursday’s practice, and the pair had to be forcibly separated.

It doesn’t take much for Riley Cooper to make the news nowadays. The Cooper-Williams spat was never out-of-control, but is notable nonetheless. Cooper brushed off the incident, but Williams refused to comment after practice. While the fight certainly isn’t a good indicator of team chemistry, these things typically blow over in a day or two in the NFL.

Footage of the practice revealed that CB Brandon Boykin was the first to break up the fight. More significantly, QB Michael Vick and WR DeSean Jackson were the two Eagles who pulled Williams aside to calm him down. Vick is clearly the leader of the team, but Jackson has also shown more maturity in his first season under Chip Kelly.

Though Cooper remains on thin ice with his teammates, the incident should fade into a non-issue by next week.
